On
August 8th, 1983 Miriam and Pastor David Swaggerty accepted the pastorate
of what was then The Langley Avenue Church of God. The first service
had 13 people in attendance. From those early beginnings, God connected
our heart with Whitehall. One and one half years later, along with the
congregation, we completed the first building program and property acquisition
at the corner of Langley Avenue and Bernhard Road.
As the congregation continued to experience growth,
the name was changed to Praise Fellowship and soon even this building
was becoming too small and a move was necessary. During the process
of looking for property to buy or build, Miriam directed Pastor Swaggerty's
attention to the vacant Cigna Health Care Property. The asking price
was $3,050,000 (three million fifty thousand dollars).
On November 20th, 1999 our Heavenly Father spoke to
Pastor Swaggerty and said "Be still and be quiet in your spirit
for I am about to give you the most incredible miracle of your life."
On November 30th, 1999, He spoke again to Pastor Swaggerty and said
"I am going to give you this building."
From that time, through many trials, purchase offers,
and prayers, two years and six months later, we closed the bank loan
on this property for only $800,000. God is still writing the rest of
our history. To Him be the glory! |
